Dinky Talks: Ikai by Ragini Ahuja
It has been 5 years since I was last a part of the ever growing and developing Indian Fashion industry…only Physically.
Emotionally, I have been a silent observer from a distance and shown my support for Indian Fashion Designers through various blog posts on TrendBridged.com, and I am so proud to share with you yet another gem I have here..Ragini Ahuja, the designer behind the label Ikai.
Ragini and I share the same alma mater i.e. NIFT-New Delhi, where we learnt the core technical knowledge and honed our skills, however our true evolution was outside the doors of that university…like every other university.
Ragini is an epitome of that example. I have observed her amazing illustrations while she worked with leading Indian designers, before deciding to launch her label IKAI in 2012.
Now showcasing at Fashion Week in India, Ragini Ahuja’s collection is a bridge of the western silhouettes which is so very amalgamated in the Indian society teamed with traditional weaves and fabrics to create a visually stunning collection.
A collection which I can confidently wear in London, and use these beautiful pieces as conversation starter about the youthful Indian society and how each individual is doing her/his own best to bridge the gap to reveal their image of Modern India.
Below are some of the pictures from her SS14 lookbook. A collection inspired by the tribal patterns and geometric prints in natural fabrics and traditional tie-dye techniques. Like her Facebook Page here.
